3.31C Diff. (Not LS) (Sheriff Interceptor model)
It is an Interdependent rear suspension, so Diff cover is aluminum and bolted to rear cross-member.
Leaked fluid. Not leaking anymore. Prolly a bad thing. ;-)
When it was leaking, it was soaked, so hard to tell where.
Now only wet around rear seal and passenger side.
Air vent tube is on passenger side and is all tacky.
I did not notice the leak when I bought it, but drove home 45 miles on highway.
Possibly the first time it was on the highway since being in flood.
---
Could fluid have sprayed out Air Vent? If there was water/Salt Water in the Diff, would it have boiled out?
Since it is bolted to truck via the aluminum pan, I am not sure I am capable of dropping it.
I am planning to check the air tube for a clog tonight. And change the fluid. (Has drain in aluminum cover)
Was hoping that either vent was clogged, pushing fluid past seals, or water in Diff boiling out. Hoping I wont have to pay for the service on the seals.
I guess I am just venting here. Any insights appreciated.
