Replaced brake rotors, pads and 'calipers' X4 on my 2013 Limited. I am relatively new to the Expedition and the rears were below 4mm and more importantly the fronts were wearing unevenly between the driver and passenger side by 3mm. Since this used vehicle's history (112K mi at purchase) was a bit of an unknown quantity, so to speak, I decided to do the works, just to be sure. I went with the Power Stop premium kit and did the install at home to prevent further expense. It gave no grief, had no snags and the kit included everything but fluid. Pricey, I suppose at $1300, but since I got into the truck reasonably for its overall condition, I felt it was worth it.

Well done! I did the Z36 upgrade to my truck about 6 months ago, and have been very pleased. I didn’t opt for new calipers at the time, but took that opportunity to epoxy the OEM calipers.

I can relate!

Nice job both of you...

I rebuilt my front end on my 2014 and powder coated all I could to keep it looking good.

Now kinda wishing I'd gone a bit further. That's gorgeous....I'm diggin' those Bilsteins as I think mine is a bit 'floaty'. Are they a direct fitment?

Nice work. I didn't like the imbalance in the wear I was seeing from the pass side vs the drivers side. Otherwise I might have done what you did.

The Bilstein shocks are easy to find and right now the price is right for the 5100.

I was on the road to making my 2014 a lifetime vehicle so I went all out on replacing and powder coating. I even bought two ford knuckles for the rear end and started collecting parts (Up for sale BTW). Then I found a small spot on the door step, driver side where the rocker panel was about to bleed through. The reality of rusted rocker panels and the pain to properly replacing them killed my dream. I traded my baby in for a 2026, it was a sad day for me, my 2014 was the best Expedition I had ever owned and it served me well.

The Bilsteins are great shocks, and you can adjust height by moving the snap ring that the bottom coil spring cup stops on. I bought two new basic shocks to get new spring cups since they were not sold separately and I wanted all new stuff on this front end.

Note: Bilsteins take a few bumpy rides before they fully break in, so give it a couple weeks before you get the final feel.

I wrote another thread on the 2014 Expedition where all of the details of the front end will be illustrated:
2014 Expedition Limited rusted knuckles

When I get some time I will put more details in there.

If there is little rust under yours, clean-it, paint it and undercoat it.
