I posted about before that I changed my battery and immediately after it stumbled to start and ran very rough for about a minute and then cleared up. I did the procedure of pulling off the battery cables and holding them together for 10 minutes. It helped. After a while and as the weather got warmer it was starting fine. This past week as we are experiencing between 37 - 42 degrees morning it started up again. The stumbling to start and clearing up after a minute. I'm 76 and live on SS, I've always done most of my work on my cars so I don't have lots of money to spend on dealers or mechanics trying different things. Does anyone have any suggestions Thank you

So Lately as it gets a bit colder, the first start in the morning it cranks a bit longer before it starts and if I let go of the key before it starts it keeps cranking by itself until it starts. could it have anything to do with the oil being thicker in the cold and not getting to the chain tensioners? After the first start it starts fine. the truck has 209K miles on it and have no idea if the chain and tensioners have been replaced, I'm the second owner, got it with 138K

I dont think it’s unusual at all for your first cold start of the day to take a few extra seconds to turnover

Maybe not but when you let go of the key and it keeps cranking for 10 - 15 sec until it starts is. I ordered an oil heater pad the sticks onto the pan and plugs into an outlet. It's arriving today so by wed or thurs I'll find out if it's the oil's viscosity. I have read about the chain tensioners needing oil and if there's slack in the chain before the chain get tighter it could through the timing and other sensors off.
