2013 XLT low MPG ?

I just took my first trip after getting my Expy. I drove 280 miles 240 was highway 70mph and the rest was back road avg 50mph few lights and traffic. I got on paper 14mpg. I was expecting between 16.5 and 17.5mpg. I know the Expy was serviced less than 1000 miles ago oil and filter change, tires rotated, spark plugs. I haven't done anything yet. any suggestions or is this normal mpg?

Another thing, It's a 2013 XLT on the Expy emblem but when I run the vin it comes up as king Ranch. It has every possible option including tow package with in dash brake controller, HD radiator and Aux trans radiator. the only thing ( I think) from not being a king ranch is the interior leather color. Does anyone else have the XLT but shows up with vin decoder as a king ranch?

For whatever reason the XLT and King ranch identify that way. It was the same for my 17.

EL or standard length? I’ve owned both and my EL sucks down a lot more gas than my old standard length.

Yeah extended. So I guess it's normal.

Thanks but I'm sure this VIN site isn't accurate. I have a 2017 XLT no options, I bought it new and when I checked my VIN it says the trim level is King Ranch. Not sure how much info is correct for yours. There used to be several VIN checkers that were correct but they aren't anywhere to be found now.

Long wheel base versions have 3.73 rears, which can hurt mileage minutely. Since you just got it, it takes awhile to learn your driving style. When vehicles are used for more city vs highway driving the PCM tends to calibrate things that way, including shift points, driving style AF trims etc. Give it awhile to adapt to your driving style and see what the trip MPGs do. Congrats on your new ride!

I have a 2017 with ecoboost, but I find the cruise MPG loss is substantial from about 60 mph up to my usual 5 over of 75 mph. I’m talking the difference between 22mpg and 16ish mpg.

Long wheel base versions have 3.73 rears, which can hurt mileage minutely. Since you just got it, it takes awhile to learn your driving style. When vehicles are used for more city vs highway driving the PCM tends to calibrate things that way, including shift points, driving style AF trims etc. Give it awhile to adapt to your driving style and see what the trip MPGs do. Congrats on your new ride!
