2020 expedition king ranch transmission

Any advise? My expedition only has 22000 miles but I'm experiencing a lurch in shifting and sometimes when it downshifts. As far as powertrain warranty it was manufactured in late 2019

I believe powertrain warranty is 5 years or 60 K miles from the date of purchase. Make sure on your date of purchase. Also, look back to the first time there is a documented complaint from you about the issue....like the first time it was on a service ticket.

You might still be under powertrain warranty. If so, take it to your dealer and get the issue documented on a service ticket. It depends on when you took delivery and also when you first reported the problem and they did not fix it.

do a reset on the transmission and then do a relearn. See if it cures it for a while. Very known issue with these around that model year. Personally I think it has to do with that stupid 3-5 shift. My 24 doesn't do the 3-5 shift at all, but my 18 F-150 had it.

Thanks for info but I bought it used and even though it only has 23000 miles it was mfg 11-2019. I haven only had it since February and just started noticing. How do you do a reset?

I usually do it with my SCT tune device or Forscan.

Buy a dongle wired or Bluetooth from OBDLink and download Forscan, it’s “free”.

I turned off TCM learn. I was erasing the learn memory and the issue would come back in a couple of months, because of my grandma type driving habits. It can be done using Forscan.

I have forscan. I did do some mods. I don’t recall seeing that feature you’re talking about

It's under TCM section and if you go into the easy mode where codes are not needed, you will see it near where you can erase the tcm learning data. You have the option to turn learning off or suspend it. I turned it off. Since doing this my tranny acts between normal and sport, without holding gears like sport mode does. It took a little getting used to because it shifts and downshifts faster and harder, but it no longer slides into gear and feels like it is slipping when rapidly accelerating from, say 45-50mph. I always experienced this coming up interstate on-ramps. I would rapidly accelerate to blend with the traffic and it would not immediately downshift to increase speed. Now it is very responsive every time.

Thanks for this. I updated forscan and I found it. Quickly turned it off lol. Night and day difference. Wow. Turning this off with a tune….. just wow.
