Does anyone have a 22+ expedition platinum with digital gauge cluster - where it makes a ticking (like a clicking old school hard drive noise) that gets louder and seems to correspond with engine rpm’s? It sounds like the same type of ticking you would hear in a 2005 ford mustang with the analogue tach and speedometer, sort of like plastic gears grinding a bit?

The dealer can’t find anything wrong, and is attributing it to the high pressure fuel pump leaking sound into the cabin. My other expedition platinum didn’t make the noise tho - so wondering if anyone has experienced this?

Thanks!

Make sure it's not the ventilated seat fans.

Yeah I can confirm it’s not the seats. The sound is coming right from the digital gauge cluster. It very well could me sound leaking in from the high pressure fuel pump, because mine does seem louder than other ‘24s I tested the other day. It it really just sounds like actual gears grinding from the tach (which of course it isn’t since it’s a digital display). I really hate it though

Bumping this thread-
Seems your positive it isn't the cooled seats which in my 24 presented a noise from the passenger seat that sounded like it was coming from the glove box. Time for you to have somebody drive with you in the back and see if you can pin the noise down. These things are an echo chamber.

Can you record the sound and post it.
For sure, here is a recording of it. You’ll want to try to just pay attention to higher pitched ticking, rather than the engine itself, but the ticking definitely translated into the cabin space much more so than the roar of the engine. Keep in mind I am in the car with the doors closed.

The dealership did say they are going to try to get with their ford rep to see if they can figure something out. They did say that in 2024 they moved the High Pressure Fuel Pump to the driver side of the engine, so is likely why its louder - but I still did driver other '24's and it was nowhere near this loud. I hope they can figure something out.
