22 Expedition Timberline issue when cold

My 22 with 60k miles will not accelerate up slight hill when cold and outside temp below 40 degrees. I will start the vehicle put the transmission in drive and I have a flat area for 30 yards that the vehicle will accelerate until I reach a slight grade where the vehicle no longer moves and engine rpm will not change. I must come to a stop and shift from drive to neutral or reverse and back to drive. The vehicle will then accelerate. This only happens cold. Has anyone experienced this? Thanks.

Have you tried starting the vehicle and letting it warm up first? I read somewhere where if the engine temp is below 60 degrees, the vehicle will limit power to avoid friction due to oil not pumping up.
I live in Florida, but still start my vehicle and wait a minute or 2 for the engine to warm up and fuel and oil pressures to stabilize.
