In 2015, the F150 was redesigned with "Air Curtain technology" to improve MPG. Basically, a grille under the headlights directs air around the front wheels, acting like a wheel skirt - avoiding the turbulence around the front wheels.

I was considering trying to fabricate something on my 2009 XLT.
I looked at a couple post-2015 F150s to see what it looks like from the outside. There is a small intake under the headlights. Then there appears to be a plastic housing that directs this air out in front of the front wheel, which causes much less turbulence.
Seems sort of straight forward, but I do not know what else might be out of view that might complicate this.
Thoughts?
