Got forscan working and yep... no TBC.
It looks as though the installation is pretty straight forward but the programming... So far I haven't seen a thread reporting success. I prefer not the stealership if at all possible. New camp trailer arrives in 60 dys and I'd like to be ready. Thanks!

Does FORScan show any option to enable the TBC for your '23? Here's a link for what people tried on their '22.

TBC did not show in the list of modules repprted by Forscan. TRM did but I gather that is just the trailer lights.

FORScan won't show the TBC module...you have to look in the IPC module to enable. In the IPC, there should be a line to enable Trailer Brake Controller. Once you install the OEM brake controller, use FORScan to enable the controller in the IPC.

Thank you!
Is the wiring in my non-HD 23 likely intact for this ?
Previous MY Expeditions had the wire loom and connector installed behind the panel where the brake controller mounts. I know non-HD '18-'22s have the connector in place and ready to hook up. I was able to install the OEM brake controller on my non-HD '19 with no difficulty and enable the TBC thru FORScan by changing the 1 setting in the IPC to enable.

Here’s a thread on it with part numbers. Issue was that the software had not been pushed out to program the controller to the vehicle and knowing how ford is they may have decided to not push it out so that people are/were forced to upgrade to a different vehicle.

Received a dealership quote last May for a TBM for my 2020 Platinum: $270 for the module + $252 install charge.
JL3Z 19H332 AA : MODULE - TRAILER BRAKE
The problem at that time was that the module was not available and they didn't know when or if it would become available.

You didn't ask, but FYI- I have a 2023 Expy Limited Texas Edition without the HD tow package (no brake controller) and for my trailer I'm using a Curt ECHO Wireless Brake Controller, that works with an app on my phone. The device plugs into my 7 pin socket. I've been using it for 2 years now, no issues. It was $175 on amazon.

I saw that, Curt also has a knob based that installs in the dash. I think that's where I'm headed. $300 installed. I like the idea of a hard wired panic button...

yeha, i sure woudn't want my trailer brake emergency switch dependent on a phone app. I've had to use that to slow down a trailer which had come off the hitch (actually, the ball came off the ball mount, the nut was completely stripped)
