Go into the trailer menu. Its a little clunky. You can edit it.
My 19 is annoying because I have to go in and select No Trailer after I’m done towing or it reverts to trailer on the dash every time I go somewhere. Ford might have finally fixed that bug?

The tow mode most definitely engine brakes and its a huge difference when towing. Trust me 780 miles dragging a 8700 lb boat from Seattle to CA you learn real quick how important that tow mode is. And yes the 3.5 can sound quite convincing coming off a long grade highway exit down shifting. I got more than a few confused looks from truck guys when they looked over expecting to see some kind of big truck and see a dad soccer wagon dragging a big boat
If you leave the truck running when you disconnect the lights/brake power cord. Trailer disconnected comes on the screen, hit OK and then it is out of trailer mode and shut the engine off. Next time you start will be normal mode.

I have a '22 limited (non max) with the tow package. Mpg non towing is 18-19 but with my 4500lb camper at 65mph (not mountainous) I got 8-9mpg. I was expecting a little more than that on the highway at 65mph. It looks like towing mode locks out 10th gear, does anyone ever use normal mode to pick up that 10th gear when highway towing?
Lots o’ drag with those flat front RV trailers. Slow down to 60mph. Drag load is a function of velocity ^2. So 5mph makes a difference. 65-60mph changes the drag force velocity multiple by 1344.5. I tow a 8800lb Express cruiser boat never in normal mode (‘20 xlt w/ 5100s, sumo, Hellwig on rear) 60mph on relatively flat I get 10mpg. Hills climb at 50-55mph, steep ones 45-50mph. Get 8.5 MD to KY over the App. Mts. 600mi, just under 3.5 tanks fuel. Wish they would have kept the 28g tank in the non-max my ‘10 expy had.

I found on a long flat stretch with the cruise control set and the fuel economy bar displayed you can select different gears and watch the economy move up and down. Mine gets better mileage in one gear lower than what the tow mode wants to run. This is usually 2200-2400rpm with a 7500lb boat. I’ve been seeing about 11mpg at 65mph.

I think your asking about the trailer default it gets stuck in even when not towing? Yeah its annoying

Its under select trailer / then you choose “no trailer” its stupid. It detects a trailer when plugged in but won’t drop the trailer mode when unplugged. Super annoying

Actually no, that's not what I asked--I have not been able to NAME my trailer. I thought that when I connected my first trailer that I could give it a name, so when I connect a different one (e.g. my boat trailer, or my utility trailer) I could name it as well and that the Expy would somehow recognize each on future connects.

IMHO, a little money saved on increased gas mileage is false economy. The possibility of damaging the engine, transmission, or both eradicates any small savings at the gas pump. An engine/transmission replacement could approach $10,000. One can buy a LOT of gas for $10,000.

on F150, you need to remove the cab to do any major engine work, including replacing it. I would assume thats true for the Expedition too, and likely even more complicated but I don't know. Anyways, it adds a LOT of shop time to the job.
