I know this has been hashed out numerous time but have searched all theread and can't find the answer. I have a 2004 expedition with manual controls for heat/AC. First I lost 1-2-3 speed fan control and only had High. After searching post I went to dealer and paid $42.00 for a blower motor resistor. Really simple to install and supposedly a quick fix. But as only will happen to me now I don't have any speeds that will work. The rear works fine. I have checked the fuse.(#116) and also the relay (#6). They are both good. I re-installed the old resistor and I still don't have anything at any speed for the front. What did I do? Any suggestions? Thanks

Did you check the connector for any signs of damage? I had to replace my blower motor resistor and my connector had also burned up so it had to be repaired. I would check for signs of corrosion or melting in the connector.

I checked everything, finally got p----d and gave the blower motor housing a good wack with my fist and it started working. At first there was a slight squeak but then it quited down and worked fine on all speeds. This lasted until today and went to turn it on and no fan at any speed. Wacked it again and it will work and continue to work until I turn the engine off. Once I restart the engine I have to give it a wack to get it started. Is this my blower motor going out? I think it might be a loose connection on the blower motor itself but don't know how to get to it. Can anyone help? Thanks.

an update, My blower motor started squealing and would stop and then restart, just bogging down. I just replaced the motor with a new one and now it works fine on high but nothing on the other speeds. Do you think I burned up my new resistor? Is there any way to check the resistor to see if it is good? Thanks.

I forget the actual values, but the resistance values are different for each speed. Let me see if I can find a post, since I remember someone had a similar problem, and I might have posted the values.

EDIT: So it seems the other person had the electronic climate control, so it's probably different, but here's the post. I lost my repair manual DVD so I can't give you steps like in that post. Lemme see if I can find it, though.
