I recently replaced the front stock struts on our 2003 Eddie Bower 2WD. I used Monroe 71369 struts and reused the old springs. Everything went in without a hitch. Now, when I go over a bump or valley, there is a clunking sound just from the front.

I have already replaced the upper control arms/ball joints as well as the lower ball joints.

Where should I start looking?

How do I know how far to crank down the top nut on the strut, the one that goes through the upper strut mount, until it bottoms out? I just tightened it until it was snug/tight. Wondering if that might be the source of the clunk, if there is a gap between the upper strut mount and the actual top of the strut arm rod (where the threads end).

Thanks!

If the struts, control arms and ball joints are tight there's a good chance it's the sway bar links. It took me a couple months to figure that out. There seemed to be no play when testing them. When I took them loose it was blatantly obvious they were shot.

My money would be on the shock mounts. Did you replace them as well? Always a good idea to change those while you're in there.
