Bought this '03 4WD Expedition Oct 2019 and quickly started hearing slight rubbing/grinding from (it seemed) frt left wheel. Mechanic said that hub was fine but replaced rt rear. As expected it didn't correct issue. Slight grinding at low speed acceleration continued till weather warmed in spring than disappeared. When outside temps dropped this fall/winter my gremlin is back! It seems to do it whether in 2wd or 4wd but have recently noticed it doesn't seem to do it if I drop it from D into 2. Any thoughts appreciated.

The vacuum tube running to the hub actuator is a common demon on the Gen2 4x4s . Take a look at that. It just deteriorates and leaks, losing control vacuum to the actuator. Hopefully the actuator and hub aren't already damaged.
