Hi hope to get this figured out soon cause I have a camp trip planned next saturday. Well--- I did the gotts mod on my 2006 eb expy, per the forums articles. The install went without problems. It took about 40 minutes. During this time I had the battery neg unfastened. I started the truck and it idols great, runs smooth up to about 2800 rpms .After this point I get a pulse on rpms,a surging and the pedal is unresponsive. How long does the computer take to readjust itself and is there a proceedure for this ? is the car running or off during the computer adjustment period?? thanks

computer adjust update

Here is my update on this mod. On the 2006 5.4 you are better off using black abs 3" pipe instead of pvc,it cuts and sands and files easier. I ended up with a fit abs pipe of 3-3/4" in length.I cut the thin sections of the 3" fernco boot off both ends. On the large section that houses the silencer I cut it to leave 1" of the tapered section before it tranfers to the large diameter(get it?). Some used permetex gasket caulk at the tapered part where the air box and boot meet,I did not notice any slipping or air seeping there,so I opted not to use the permetex.
After 3-4 cycles of letting the engine come up to temp, shutting down and repeating. I couldnt get it to run smooth. I disconnected the battery completely, while I called my car guy to ask his advise. He also said after a few cycles the computer would readjust for more cool air.I started do drive to his shop anyway and within ten minutes the computer did its deal and now the truck runs great. Ill try again tomarrow morning . and see what a cold start will reveal. Im pleased so far and look forward to verifying the results on power and MPG.
