I have a couple dents right below the glass in my lift gate. Dealer says the lift gate is made of fiberglass and dent repair is very hard if not impossible.

What's you guys take on it?

Well boats are made of fiberglass and they get repaired every day. I've even heard that someone once repaired a body panel on a corvette. (what I'mt trying to say here is that the dealer is an idiot)

The thing that confuses me is that fiberglass doesn't really 'dent'. Chip, crack, yes. But generally not dent.

Did he perhaps mean 'aluminum' ? Because that can be slightly tricky to repair, but again it's done every day.

now that I think about it, I believe he said aluminum...I was in sticker shock from the $1900 price and I think I might have blacked out for a minute lol

Yea, it should be aluminum. You know, cuz it's these tailgates that get bubbles in the paint from the aluminum "corroding".

The problem with doing body work on aluminum is the sanding. It's very easy to overheat the panel and cause it to warp.
You could block it out by hand, (it's really not that tough to do) yourself and have a shop paint the whole liftgate for a few hundred.
