Its a '14 el, drivers side door makes a sound like its from the 60's when it closes. I was ready to realign the hinge but doesn't seem to be missaligned when i watch the striker alignment as its almost closed. Right at the moment the door closes it makes a thump or a sound like the stricker and actuating lever aren't aligned properly but it looks pretty darn good to me and the gap around the door is even. Anyone elses doors make this sound? All The other doors are quiet. Thank you in advance
I’d bet the thump noise you are hearing is a defective door-check assembly (located at the forward portion of the door, by the door hinges).
I purchased a new 2015 Expedition Limited 4x4. The LF door check strap broke twice and was replaced initially under warranty, the under the Ford Premium ESP.
The check-strap is a poor quality design, mostly made of plastic. If the strap doesn't break, the two compression plastic pieces (inside the door and part of the assembly) break - causing a snap or thump sound.
For the replacement of the LF door check strap assembly, the parking brake assembly must be unbolted and moved aside.
