So I just bought a 2003 and love it so far. Only thing that bothers me is when you unlock the door with the key fob remote the driver seat cycles all the way forward. And so, before I get in I have to move the seat back before I get in. I was wondering if the seat is "set" to that position. And if it is, how do I disable that function or reset it to default

Usually the seat goes all the way back, not forward, that's odd. The Eddie Bauer and maybe other trim levels have memory seats.

If you have memory seats try setting the memory with the seat all way back. There would be 3 buttons with 1 2 and SET. To reset the memory for the seats, pedals and door mirrors press set and then select 1 or 2. It will save the location of all those items.

The vehicle owner’s manual will have instructions on how to set or change the seat memory feature.

If you don’t have one, it is available online to read.

My 2003 has a driver seat, mirrors, and pedals that can be preset for two different drivers. Someone that owned it before you was a very small person. :) As stated above, the manual has instructions for customizing the positions for you.

I figured out how to reset the seat but the next time I drove it, it was back to the way it was. It's annoying having to slide the seat back every time. What if I need to get out of a sticky situation? I gotta waste 30 seconds before I can jump in.

The joys of power seats. I have a special hatred for power seats. Do you have the buttons on the driver door to save the settings? Or just move the seat back and disconnect it. It won't move then.
