I've been searching for this specific issue and can't find anyone else who is experiencing it.
I have a 2018 Ford Expedition Max Limited.
My wife and I have a large height disparity and we move the driver's seat forward and backward whenever we change drivers. One day, I moved the seat all the way to the back position - no weird noises or anything. The next day, she went to move it forward and the seat just twists to the right. There are two tracks attached to the floor with long screws that move the seat - the left one isn't working, but the right one is; this causes it to twist/strain the motor/stay in the farthest position.
I have an extended warranty (which I recently used to replace the whole freaking transmission), so I brought it in to have it looked at. They said that a plastic bracket that holds the mechanism together is broken in half.. They also said that it isn't a mechanical or electrical issue, so therefore it isn't covered.
Has anyone heard of this? I need to get it fixed because my wife can't drive it.
Is this something I could do myself with relative ease?
How can I find the exact part?
Does this sound like they diagnosed it correctly or are they just gaslighting me and it's actually something more serious?
The Expedition has had one serious issue after the next and * sometimes * the warranty covers things. But, I'd really love to get this fixed without breaking the bank.
Oh and I should also mention that we aren't like GIANT people who would shear a bracket simply by sitting on the seat. We also don't jump up and down on it. So, I have no idea how or why it broke.
Thank you!
