Think I got the differential dropped. Anyone know how to get the shaft out between the spider gears. I've tried rotating the wheels but the end of the shaft will never come around.

Just looking at my mechanics manual. Take down spare. It says to remove drive Axel and there are some mounting bolts. Have something under differential to catch it. Move it forward and there should be enough space open cover.

I'm not sure 100% the procedures but the object is to remove spare and then move differential toward the front of vehicle

I assume you're talking about the rear axle. There's a big circlip that retains the inboard CV joint to the differential side gear, accessible from the inboard side of the inner CV joint, between the pumpkin and CV joint. Using a special OTC tool (giant C-clip remover...) push the circlip out and slide the half shaft off away from the pumpkin. It's all done from outside the pumpkin. Should be no need to drop the pumpkin. You have to remove the wheel/tire assembly. Remove the outer hub from the shaft and flip the hub up out of the way. Do you have a Chilton manual or anything for the vehicle?

Here's a link to the tool. You need the tool and the handle. About $200 worth ....

See if this PDF file opens for you, it should have the instructions in it ....
