Hi
I just recently got new winter tires on my new '20 Plat and started hearing a 'rattling' or more like dragging a garden hose metallic sound coming from my front left tire and come to find out the wheel bearing dust cap? was loose. is this needed to be back on? I assume if i need to put this back on i can just remove the tire and tap it back into where it belongs.. coming from the northeast with great salt roads and winters, i figure might be a good idea to put it back in. thoughts?

thanks

Even if it weren't for the winter conditions, the extra exposure to all the road dirt and elements of daily driving will contribute to premature wear on the bearings. I don't have direct experience with this piece but having just repaired bearings on my BMW, I can say that it's a good idea to replace a small simple part now to save yourself problems in the long run.

Yes, replace that cap immediately, don't let any dirt/dust get in there. It will grind up the wheel bearings very quick.
