For anyone that hasn't had a check engine light code for this, it's not too surprising. I recently got a smoke machine for another vehicle, but decided to try it out on my 2005 Expedition. The smoke machine immediately showed a rather large leak on an emission hose located towards the back of the engine near the firewall which connects to a purge solenoid valve. I tried to order this hose on Amazon (failed) then Oreilly's (failed). Before I left Oreilly's though I decided rather than spending $52 or even $22 on Amazon, why not just get some fuel hose? Oreilly's sells them in different sizes but I got the Masterpro #FU0516 which is 2 feet of hose with an inner diameter of 5/16" or 7.9mm. This is actually shorter than the original hose by a couple of inches, but works just fine. I basically removed the old and disintegrated hose from the fittings, which were perfectly fine and inserted the new hoses to those fittings. I did have to use some silicone lubricant to make them fit snug, but good news, no need for band clamps. Placed the fittings on the solenoid valve and the other end on the valve cover. Simple $5 fix and no more vac leaks!
It's strange that my expedition never threw a vac leak code, but thought I should post my solution here for anyone else that comes across this issue.
