I think the Expedition Tremor needs a low profile fender flare. It is the nature of the aggressive tire to fling debris the full span of the fender well. When the paint is chipped there is no coating at these points protecting the aluminum from the corrosive environment.
The other spin-off of fender flares is protection of doors opening into the side of your vehicle.
I noticed the protruding Tremor door step will mostly keep the doors from other (normal height) cars from whacking the side.
The older generations had some plastic bands at the lower part of the vehicle that would almost always protect the sides from nearby parked cars and some trucks from door dings.
An aggressive Fender flare might affect airflow along the side of the truck at speed, however a low profile rounded edge would offer excellent long term protection and have only minimal additional drag and exterior noise.
I am going to do some research here and let you know what I find. Meanwhile if anyone else wants to add some findings they will be greatly appreciated.
