So my wife lost her wedding ring somewhere in the front of the truck. We've looked around the whole cabin area with a flashlight but can't find it. Now she wants to remove the front seats so we can have a better look .

She wants to take the truck to the dealer to have it done but I'm wondering how easy it would be to do it myself. Thoughts?

should be 4 bolts and a few electrical connections... You can probably unbolt & tip it back without undoing everything. I had the seats out of my 05 when I replaced the carpet. Not a big job. My back seat on the passenger side was removed to install a lift chair for my son. The bolt pattern was identical to the pattern in the 05.

Don’t forget about the front seat mounted airbags. You may want to disconnect the negative battery cable for at least 10 minutes before you disconnect the wiring under the seat.

And make sure it’s not wedged in the seat cushion somewhere between the seat back and bum cushion.

Folks, thanks for your input. I'm going to try and look at it this weekend to see if I can manage it. I'm not terrible mechanically inclined but I have replaced batteries, wheels and even a MAF sensor on an old Maxima I once owned. Hopefully I can manage 4 seat bolts.

@Muddy, definitely searched the seats themselves. Will take a second, actually third look though.

Get a small mechanics inspection mirror - they are on a telescoping mast like a power antenna. $10.

That and a good flashlight and you can visually see every nook and cranny under both front seats. Look from both the front floorboards and the rear floorboard. If the ring is under there, you will see it. Otherwise expect a dealership to charge atleast an hour labor per seat.

That's great idea on the inspection mirror, Flex. What size of mirror would you recommend? It's got to be small enough to get under the seat etc. yet large enough to actually see something.

Get a kit where multiple mirrors interchange the handle. At the distance you will be viewing from, a 1 inch to 1 1/2 round mirror is probably best. But there will be other times where a 2x4 inch rectangular is needed. I searched Sears but evidently they've discontinued the Craftsman 8-10 piece kit I bought years ago. Sad to see them go to complete crap recently.

Won't help with the ring, but look for one with a magnetic pick-up tip.

I wouldn't hesitate to take it to the dealer and have them do it. Id be sure to tell them what happened and that you want to be there for the removal process. If its really down there though its probably just stuck in a corner or something. I don't see how it could get under the carpet. If you move the seat all the way forward and back you can see pretty much the entire area under the seat. Good luck though hope you find it

Seeing how its her wedding ring, it wouldn't bother me at all to disassemble the entire cabin, right down to the floor pans. You may not find it, but at least you'll have confidence, and hopefully her too, that it ain't in the truck.

Oddly enough this exact scenario happened to me, but it was in a Crown Victoria I once had. Searched and searched, and finally removed the seat. Sure enough it made it through a flap in the carpet and was underneath it.

Happened twice to my wife. First time I found it behind the seat supports that bolt to the floor. Second it was wedged between the back support and ass portion of the seat. If you unbolt it and DC any wiring you can probably just tilt it

Very easy.

4 large bolts, T55 or T60 iirc

Folks, we finally had a warm day up here. Unbolted the driver's seat, being careful to disconnect the battery first. Lo and behold, we found the ring. It was sitting under some under some metal support thingy. Sorry to get technical, this was my wife's description. I was in the back tilting the seat back so she could get in underneath and didn't see where the ring was.

Thanks for all the advice and help.
