Goo Gone Products: Automotive-Garage

The link is to Goo-Gone's automotive products. That is what I would use personally. It would be worth giving them a call though and double-checking it is safe to use on painted surfaces. I am sure it is, but better to be safe than sorry.

Don't use mineral spirits. I had my truck broken into and had to tape it up with cardboard for a day. got the window replaced and the guy said use mineral spirits. He does it all the time for clients with taped up windows... so I did and clear coat for about 6 inches came off instantly. I was pissed. guys at the carwash did an excellent job for an extra 15 bucks.

These are what I use.

The spray worked really well on my crown vic ex-police car that had double sided tape all over the place. I used it on the plastic on the mirrors, the vinyl on the dash and on the paint. It didn't leave any stains or mess up the clear but it's a little time consuming. I think I paid around $10 for it at O'Reilly.

The 3M eraser wheel is awesome, you can use it on paint and glass and won't harm the clear. It'll take off pin stripes and bumper sticker adhesive, dealer emblem or window sticker glue comes off with no problem and it works pretty fast. I picked up it up on eBay for $24 shipped.

Go to your local auto parts store and buy some prep solve, it's made to remove adhesive without harming the paint.

We used to use it all the time in my dads auto body shop when we had to remove an emblem or something sticky.
