I just bought a 1998 Expedition XLT 4x4. It's blue with grey interior and has the 4.6 engine and coil spring suspension. My prior rig was a 1991 Explorer. Loved the old girl but she finally gave up the ghost. The expy has a couple issues to work out. Already did the wd-40 trick to correct the door ajar light. Replaced every instrument light bulb as well. PO said it might have a blown headgasket. No water in engine or steam out the exhaust. There is a sound like an exhaust leak to me under the hood and cant see any water or steam on that side either(passenger). Also the heater blows stone cold air and the temp gauge pins itself all the way to high upon turning the key. I changed one temp sensor(most front passenger side). I noticed there is another sensor to the right behind the alternator wired in tandem to the one I changed. Going to change that one out and the thermostat as well. Feel free to chime in.
