Hello everyone, truly excited to be on this forum. Been wanting to get my hands on the expedition for a while now, ever since I rented on back in 2017. Had aspirations for the 3.6V6, but then finally got around to buying one yesterday- its a 2007 with the V8 and 4x4.
The dealership that i bought it from (or the two men one shop) listed this as the SSV, but I suspect its just the XLT. bare bones with just the head unit, a/c and cruise control, I am very excited to introduce "The commander"
It jus about makes it into my garage with less than 1/2 inch to spare.
and I cried when i did my first tank up, but then you drive that V8 and every worry just melts away.
I drove it for about 30 miles yesterday and today and dropped it off at a mechanic.
Asking them to check & replace
1. all fluids- oil, coolant, brakes and transmission
2. inspect and replace all hoses & connectors
3. all suspension
4. all pumps.
So far the defects I found
a) there is a clanging noise from the rear when I take on uneven surfaces- i suspect somethings loose with the suspension or spare wheel, which I am hoping they will figure out
b) wind noise through the door. Which I read appears to be a common thread with expeditions. Need to redo the sealing or something, which I will figure out later.
I hope to start making off-road mods- one mod at a time starting with suspension (I can't do a lift because then it definitely wont fit into my garage) and then go crazy and plonk in a supercharger.
Im in northern California (the bay area) so always up to meeting up with fellow expedition owners.
