and so far I have
swapped out the rear bags for springs,
replaced the transfer case because the guy that had it before ran different size tires front and back,
replaced tires,
put new headgaskets on (passenger side oil leak),
replaced timing chains, guides, and tensioners,
replaced PVC hose,
replaced a coil pack,
fixed the disappearing odometer, and
replaced the PRNDL.

I have new gears and bearings on the way for the rear end noise that I have in the 9.75.

Now the PATS is acting up on it. It's showing a code 16, which I believe means I need a trip to the dealership.

It's getting very frustrating....but it does have 193,000 on it. Anything else I should expect to do? The tranny has been replaced, so I am hoping it will be good for awhile.

PATS ended up being the computer relay in the underhood fuse/relay box. I didn't have to take it to the dealer.

I just received the gear and bearing kit from ford. It didn't have the carrier bearing (diff bearings). I had to call and have them shipped seperate.

I just tore apart the rear and the small pinion bearing is different than what they sent. The large pinion bearing also has different part numbers and the race is a little thicker.

Ford is really starting to tick me off with the wrong parts.

I finally got the correct pinion bearing and pinion spacer. Gears are setup and all of the bearings are replaced. It still has the same noise. I replaced the gears and every bearing in the entire rear end.

I don't know what is making the noise. It starts at around 40mph and gets louder as the speed increases.

I also noticed that the lower control arms are rusted out. Looks like that's next....
