Is 5 w30 synthetic oil better than 5 w20 in an 04 expedition I've read alot on line that says 5w20 is to thin and was only recommend for cafe standards.

Correct. That and the weak stock oil pump. 5w20 was only to appease the EPA.

Oh, come on. Where are the people that say you should go by the owner's manual and Ford engineers know more than you do...Blah blah blah. Been hearing this crap all of my life and it is just that: Crap.
Had a big discussion today with a guy in person about people who just feel better putting an AC Delco, or Motorcraft part on their car.
Most of these parts are made in China, Mexico, or India.
Results tell you that 5w-20 and 0w-20 oil is not the beast for your engine unless maybe ambient temp is -7F.
These engineers and manufacturers make things and then they fail or wear out too quickly and the men on the street and in the field have to find ways to fix them and make them last longer.
