My expy has a problem

Well yesterday I was driving down a mud road. Tires started to spin so I put it in 4wd and seconds later it let out a huge BANG. Then it sounded like a chain spinning free below my seat. Any ideas should I just sell it while I am ahead the front pinon seal started leaking also and the front drivers side caliper is bad. I dont know what to do and wanted your opinons.

Your description makes it sound as if your transfer case chain may have broken. Never heard of it happening before with these but.....

I dont think it should be that bad to repair if you dont mind getting your hands dirty but just speculating.

Can you tell if 4wd still works??

No that scared me shi*less. So I turned it of right away and backed up. I will check tommarow and let you know. I wonder if maybe it was even the differential. Because that 4wd hasn't worked to good since I bought it.

Sounds like you had the wheels slipping when you tossed it into 4hi and it put too much stress on the chain and you broke the chain. The fix is fairly easy. Cost isn't all that bad if you don't mind doing it yourself. Probably find out that the transfer case motor is not up to stuff and it lead to the problem. All easy fixes.

Well I looked at the transfer case the inside is thrashed. I am going to get a rebuilt one online most likely this fall and fix it. Doing the caliper and pinon seal in the next week or two.
