I recently bought an '02 Eddie Bauer Edition. I can get the movies to play, but there is no sound from the movie.

Also, can I use IR wireless headphones or will I need to buy a transmitter to go with them?

There is an IR transmitter built into the unit so you should not need anything else. Also to get sound from all speakers, if you look up where the screen is usually in the closed position you see a small selector switch ( it is black and kinda hard to see - they should have made it another color) this switch will have positions for off and two radio frequencys. The frequencys are :

Position 1 = 88.7fm
Position 2 = 89.1fm

The switch will be on the passanger side of the unit towards the back seat ( when looking up from below)

Switch positions

Far left (drivers side) = off
Middle = Position 1
Far right (passanger side) = Position 2

Hope this helps!

Thanks! I can now get the sound through the speakers. Now I just have to figure out how to let them listen to the movie, and me something else. Guess I probably need to wait till the headphones come in.

On a side note, I got a quote to swap the VCR for a DVD for $215, including parts and labor.

Is that OEM Ford or an aftermarket?

I am saving up to put in a double din headunit so that I can use the dual zone function of DVD in the rear and music in the front.

It's aftermarket. He's going to pull the VCR and place the DVD player there. I asked if there was a way to rig it so that the movie doesn't go through the radio. My kids want a movie on all the time, which will mean I can only listen to CDs. He said he'd have to change all the wiring on the stock radio and the price would go up considerably.
