Just wanted to extend my greetings to all and say thanks for the info. Upkeep and research go hand in hand with my SUV. I got my Expedition from a guy who loved his K-9 so much he bought him the Expedition for trips to the doggy park.
(TRUE STORY!)
I bought it when it was 6 years old. There was 29,000 miles on it. The passenger seat and the 3rd row rear seat had never even been sat in. The back seat had only been sat on by the K-9 (an Irish Setter...no pun intended), 4 thick blankets were laid on the seat to give the dog comfort. Trips were only made to the doggy park and an occasional trip here and there. The only draw back was that I had to scrub six years of dog hair out of the interior cloth fabric. It literally took months. I finally found a pet hair extractor which consisted of a rubberized material, similar to an old style chalk board eraser, which was able to extract about 95%. I was finding hair for about the next 4 years in odd crevasses. Even so the previous owner was a meticulous fanatic. The maintenance log was filled out right on time and he spared no elbow grease in keeping the rig in top condition whether it needed it or not. He installed a brand new set of Cooper Tires just a few months before I bought it. The only reason he sold the mint condition SUV to me was because the dog was so old it couldn't jump into the back seat anymore due to arthritis. He went out and bought a brand spankin new 2004 Dodge Ram wagon that was low profile for the animal. Soon thereafter though his good buddy died and about tore his heart out. For months he struggled with the loss. He finally got a new pup and continued his love and passion. He tried to sell me his new Jeep back in 2009 with 15,000 miles on it with the same intentions, but I loved my Expedition too much to part with it and I was flat broke due to my plundering business interests.
I have tried to do my best to keep up with the gents work effort and have to say that my love this talented work horse continues to burn. Sure Ive had my troubles with the "SAGGY REAR END" air ride system )(3 times...got a good source on the air bags and seals cheep by the way if you need one - I opted out of the mega spring modification kit, Miss fire in cylinders 8, 7 and 2(all were bad coils), put in E85 in my gas tank by accident and ruined my fuel pump and filter...had to drop the tank of course, and had the cruise control sensor replaced (by the dealer - it is a recall that burned several families out of house and home.... a must do if you haven't had it done yet, it is covered under warranty! Please get it done!). but I have loved every minute of the accomplishment and proud to still be driving it and showing it off everyday! It still runs and looks like new, even though I now have 165,000 miles on it in the Vegas area heat.
So now you know about me. Hope to meet you all real soon.
