Hey guys, I would also like to know what would be required to put posi differentials in my expy. I got into some deep snow, and I hate when only 2 wheels spin in 4 wheel, I would like to get all 4 of them rolling.

Thanks,
Zerick

posi is horrible in snow, just FYI. limited slip diff is great for snow, and i think you already have one. one thing you could do is put a selectable air locker, or electric, into the rear. this way you get all the power you need, when you need it. but full time would be horrible.

Sorry, ya I would get a limited slip diff. I'm pretty sure I just have an open diff, when I spin in snow, only two wheels have spun for as long as I know. I hate it because this tank has been stuck before because of this when the other wheel is on solid ground.

I'm pretty certain most EB expy's have a limited slip... or if you want check with a junk yard for a used axle with a LS...

Make sure you check the axle tags. Or (correct ke if I'm wrong) if you spin one wheel, the other will spin inn the opposite direction with LSD (under no resistance). The reason I say to make sure and check is because I have an 06 4x4 EB and it does not have LSD, was pretty surprised when I someone found the build sheet for me. Good luck, Mike.

I haven't checked my tags or anything yet, but I found out the other day that if I am in 4 low, all 4 tires spin. It helped out alot in the deep snow. Is there anyway I could get all 4 to lock in 4 high?

They will only spin in the same direction if there is force on one wheel and you are turning the pinion enough to engage the clutch other wise you will see no difference...

just check the tag on the axel or the axel code on the door sticker

4H from my understanding is like AWD, just a little better. i dont think any of our expys have a true posi lock rear end where both tires will spin at once. the LSD, like KWT said, will only spin one tire until there is enough force to get the other spinning. but, i could be wrong, wouldnt be the first time! hahah. if you have limited slip, your axle tag should have a LSS tag on it, at least mine does.

I will check my tags when I go home next week. I'll have to check the tag on the axle because there was a new rear end put in a few years ago. But if all 4 spin only in 4 low, could it be some kind of locker that is turned on when put in 4 low?

thats possible but that would be some sort of E locker like jeeps have. you could always get stuck in 4high and then put it into 4low to see if all 4 wheels are actually spinning. cause i though i had that before, but then i got up to my frame rails in mud and nope i didnt. haha

I have both a limited slip carrier in the front diff and the rear diff. I love it. And it is factory too.

Haha Panda, that's exactly how I found out. I dropped through a drift in the mountains. It took a little to dig out since it was pretty deep and really heavy snow.

o nice well then you might have it. you could always get on a angle where 2 wheels are in the air and see if all 4 still spin. it could be some sort of LS that works in 4low.

If you have the 2wd option, you could put a Powertraxx Lockright in the front. They aren't very expensive and drop in without having to mess with a lot. I don't know if they make one for an Expy or not.

In the last year ARB has come out with a locker for the rear 9.75 to go along with the front 8.8. I have run the LS, detroits, and ARB's and the ARB's win hands down if you do much driving on road.

i would love an arb but i like to go about 40+ in the desert so if i were to have it on they arnt made for speed. i wouldnt mind one in the front though. i think im getting detriot rear and arb front. so i can have the compresser to fill an air tank to runn tools, train horn, locker, and what ever i want.
