Pros and Cons 2012 Limited EL

Hello All,

I'm new to this form and expeditions but I'm looking for some advice on buying one. I'm looking at purchasing a 2012 Expedition Limited EL. It's got 167,000 miles on it. Interior is in good condition. The trunk has a bit of a rust bubble and theres a little bit of frame rust on the rear of the frame. It also looks like the automatic lowering foot boards need a little work as one of them seems to get stuck going up and doesn't fully retract without help. I noticed one headlight might also be a little loose. Other than that, it seems to run great and has had regular maintenance done to it. I know the 5.4 triton V8s had some problems so I wanted some wisdom from others who have had expeditions for awhile. The lady wants $7300 down from $8800. Is this worth it, are there things about the 2012 that I should just walk away from? Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I bought a 2012 Limited with 150,000 miles over 5 years ago for $7,000 and have been more than happy with it. It is loaded including NAV and 2nd row bucket seats. Only thing I miss is a remote starter. Truck has been very good. Besides new tires i had 2 bad coil packs. Before I bought it I checked the frame and running boards and they were totally rust free! I didn't realize until several months later that the truck had been Ziebart Rust Proofed. I guess that treatment works because it is still totally rust free today. Still have the bubbling tailgate like all of the expeditions. Ford knew about for years and never totally addressed the problem.
If you are still considering the 2012 I would offer $5,000 and go from there. Good Luck and stay safe and healthy.
