Rear wiper

So I’m trying to replace the rear wiper transmission and the bolt that holds the shaft to the glass after you remove the arm is stuck. Hit it with PB blaster over and It makes no difference. I put tons of pressure on the bolt don’t want to break the glass.

Bahaha i didn’t like how tight it was on the glass though, even with the long 22 mm it still took some force.

If your wiper is not working in the rear or moves only slightly this is probably your issue, the transmission not the motor mine works perfect again after this replacement. Pretty straight forward remove the wiper arm and exterior nut holding the plastic shroud to the glass and remove the exterior c clip and nut. Just two more under the glass inside and it pops right out.

I replaced my rear wiper transmission last year on the 05. When I went to loosen the nut you were talking about it took the whole tube with it. I was planning to dissemble it and clean it and relube everything but once it broke off it was new part time. Fortunately it was only $20 on Amazon Prime and I paid for overnight delivery. It was a pretty easy job.

I used to dribble CLP on the thru-glass fitting. Finally that stopped working and required a new unit from Rock Auto.

That’s where I purchased this one from, it’s a Dorman unit but I don’t really mind as it’s just a wiper part.

I'm pretty sure that Dorman was the original OEM manufacturer for Ford for the wiper transmission.

Had to do mine last year too. Lots of posts around the web and even you tubes about taking it apart and cleaning and lubing to make like new. Mine was so fused that after several days of PB Blaster and trying to move it the thing just broke apart. Think a new one cost me under $50. If I had to do again wouldn't mess with trying to get it apart, replacing is an easy inexpensive fix.

That's the truth. Now I need one for the camera so I can see when backing up.

The take away from this is EVERYONE should give that little pivot a shot of your favorite light oil. WD40 is okay, but IMHO Fluid Film is the best.
