Reliability of higher mileage Max.

Hey gang. I’m new to the forum. My wife and I are currently looking to get into a newer to use used Expy Max. Our price range limits us to around 2018-2020 in the realm of 100,000+ miles. What I would like to know from those of you who have these years and mileages is-
-How reliable are they? Can I expect another 150,000 on it if taken care of?
-what are the big ticket issues to come up with the eco-boost motors and transmissions on these trucks especially at these mileages?
-What are some things I should be aware of or watch out for?
-What are the best years to look for if possible? Best and most reliable trims?

I'm sure others will chime in and you'll get many different answers but years and problems aren't always automatic. There are other factors that play into failures. 18-19 seem have more cam phaser issues. You can search that topic up and the symptoms to look out for. There is also the waste gate warm up rattle that can sometime mirror the sound of the cam phaser. There are also transmission issues with 18-20, hard shifts and slipping. Both I have dealt with in my personal vehicle. The engine itself has had a good track record and the rest of the vehicle is pretty solid. You will not have to worry about it rusting out in 6 years like other makes since it has a full aluminum body panels. The sync system can be quirky but stay up on the updates. Most of all I would say purchase the premier care extended warranty through Ford. This covers all the issues above with $100 deductible and rental car. Even if you get it for 1 year it will catch any of the big stuff out of the gate. I got 3 year policy and have paid for it twice over in repairs. Having a good shop has a lot to do with it. All things said I think the torque, power ratio and ride is the best out there and I was a GM guy for years.

If possible before purchase get an Oasis report and and a Carfax report. Some items like oil changes may not reported on the carfax report. So that leaves you in limbo in that regard. But what was mentioned regarding a Ford Protect warranty would be high on the list for purchasing for coverage.

I purchased my 2019 Expedition used from an Audi dealership. I called Ford Protect and purchased the Ford PremiumCare ESP. Im glad I went with a Ford plan and not the 3rd party plan the Audi finance manager was offering at time of purchase. I like that I can bring her to a Ford dealer for Ford backed service plans
