So yesterday we had a serious thunderstorm that left my neighborhood with flooded streets. On my way home it started hailing really bad so i was hauling ass to get in the garage. Nothing too deep, maybe 10"-12" and i went slow in one part that was about 2 ft. deep. So this morning when i crank it up, it makes a really weird hissing noise and under rev or acceleration, it sounds like an air compressor relieving pressure.

IDK? It seems to run fine, no SES light, not overheating, oil pressure is good. I listened but cannot find out where the noise is coming from. I plan to take the airbox off this afternoon and do a thorough check throughout the engine bay but wanted to check with you guys to see if anyone recognizes this problem.

I don't see how the water could have affected anything, but maybe it did. Or it is just pure coincidence.

Thanks!

May be water in the transmission/transfer case, or differentials.

Hopefully you didn't ingest any water itnto the motor.

I would reccomend (sp) getting all the fluids changed.

Last summer after Irene hit Vermont, and we had deep water, I had to drive my F250 through deep water.

I lost my statrter 1 week later due to the deep water. I also changed all the fluids in the lower end of my truck and all filters.

Cheap insurance against water intrusion.

Hopefully it isn't anything that severe. I'm not sure if the water could have gotten into any lower end parts like tranny or diff. It drives and shifts just fine. I go mud riding occasionally and have encountered some deep water spots before and never had this issue.

I just took the air intake apart and everything looked good. No signs of moisture or water droplets. It really sounds like it is coming from one of the pulleys or underdrive system.
