best advice I can give is to take it to the dealer and see what he recommends, get a quote with part numbers. and then decide which route you would want to go there are plenty of good after market parts available also depends on what you want to tow as to if you need the heavy or light duty package

i will be towing a 26ft boat,
which including weekend luggage will be about 7500lbs, and i will have 5 adults and 2 kids (7yrs & 9yrs) in the truck.
the usual equipment for a weekend will be stored in the boat travelling to the lake each weekend.

when you say equipment - what do you mean other than the hitch fitting?
its alot easier in Ireland to tow, if it pulls it, great, it not, upgrade!!

thanks

there was a recent post on here in which someone was asking about towing. He went to a dealer and got all the part numbers and wanted to know which would be best for him to do. In the end he decided to let the dealer install factory parts and also had a warranty with it. he figure the cost and it wasn't much more than he could do it himself for using aftermarket parts. You may want to consider going that route.

towing that much weight you want a heavy duty hitch depends on the trailer if it needs 4 or 7 pin connector and if it has electric brakes, serge brakes or no brakes.

keep safety in mind. you may be running close to max combined weight with 5 adults and 2 children plus 7500 lbs of boat, trailer and gear. Consult a dealer to get his recommendations

I have the heavy duty tow package on my truck. It consists of the an oil cooler, a transmission cooler, and the hitch has the round 7 pin connector and it also has a 4 pin connector tucked up behind the hitch. As far as I can tell, I have no electric brake control.

attached information was obtained from 2006 Ford owners Manual

As I stated earlier you may be close to your max combined weight. Consult with a dealer. Many factors come into play such as engine, trans, axle ratio, tow package, and also amount and weight of passengers and towed equipment.

again Consult with a ford dealer to get an idea of what you would need in parts and a cost for the parts and for them to install. Since I am in the States I would have no idea what it would cost in Ontario. But your dealer or a Boat/RV shop would be the best place to get the information you need.
