Transmission oil change

My 08 Expy has about 35000 miles on it. The service writer at our local Ford dealership is suggesting that I should go ahead and do a tranny oil change. Isn't it to early to do this? Suggestions Please. Thanks...

ive been out of the repair idustry for a.few years but it use to be trans flush at 30k and filter change and flush at 60k

Ford recommends 100K for tranny service, but if used heavily for towing, much sooner than that. I think you are early for a flush regardless. I just had mine done at 59K and I tow a fair amount in the summer.

Thanks for the reply. The Expy is primarily used in driving to and from work, and to haul the kids around. Haven't done any towing on it. I'll save $200 for now and wait...

$200 for that. is it bad if mine has never been done? it has almost 150,000. less then that just dont know the exact number. 147 148? i dont remember. any ways its never been done. should i get it done? ive herd that if u put new oil in a tranny thats never had it done it will cause slipping and wear. is that true? or should i just do it in my garage... in front of my garage?

I just paid $116 plus tax to have the flush done at the dealer a couple months ago.

If you haven't done it and you have 150K on it, I would do it soon. As far as it causing the tranny to start slipping, it won't. If anything the heavy/dirty fluid is masking the issue if the tranny currenty has issues, and the new fluid will just make you more aware of the current problem. The fluid can only help the transmission shift better and last longer as there are most likely metal shavings in the oil from 150K miles of use.

The dealership sent me the $189 coupon for the tranny oil change. I just rounded it off to $200. It is high, that's why the coupon went straight to the shredder. $116 plus tax is a great price, especially from a dealer.
Panda... if you do it yourself make sure you use Mercon V..
