So I have been really enjoying my very quiet 3.5 ecoboost engine after coming out of a much louder 5.3 Suburban with a Borla exhaust. I don't even like playing the radio because any noise interferes with the soothing sound of the turbos kicking in periodically.
So Monday I start out on my normal daily 34 mile trek and I hear something weird. Very faint noise coming and going out of the front end or motor. I'm thinking great, 2500 miles and the turbos are malfunction. I was really dreading going to the dealer and try to see if they can hear etc... very faint noise but its there and it's ******* me off because I can't hear the turbos like I normally do. So I have been really bummed out about it.
Sitting at a traffic light today and I notice "4A" in around one of the main gauges. Not sure how it happened but it was in all wheel drive. Problem solved and I am extremely relieved I don't have to go to the dealer!

Did you put it in "SPORT" mode? That will automatically put it in 4A.
I know that I once inadvertently changed the drive mode when I thought I was changing gears, but that was when I first got the Expy and was getting used to the dial shifter.

Yes I might have accidentally did this.

Good thing it wasn’t the stupid Brent Spence creaking under you. What part of town are you in?

I've tried telling others on the forum that you can her the parts moving in 4A, but they refused to believe me. I can clearly hear it in my Expedition. Whines noticably around 40-55mph.

I hear mine too. Not so much a whine for me, just kinda sounds like extra wind noise or something. But it’s definitely noticeable.

You can definitely hear additional sounds in 4A, also the feel of the Expy totally changes when in 4A, imo (not even changing the drive modes at this point).

Yep, I felt mine change as well once on the highway when I swapped it to 4A. It felt like it was all bound up and has resistance of some sort, obviously drive line.

I did that once. it still bothers me that I could do that without knowing.
