Getting ready for up to 9" of snow and sub zero Temps. Filled up both trucks, checked all fluids and tested coolant, made sure to set heat to defrost and turn rear heat on to get the family in nice and toasty of needed. The rear vents that rotate are phenomenal at defrosting all of the side windows and the nice blast of warm air as you open the door and get in is refreshing for the kids who will no doubt be complaining after the excruciating 7 second walk to the car. Fortunately I'm off the next 3 days so I shouldn't need to go anywhere and roads ought to be more than clear by my Wed commute.
Parked end to end in the driveway, facing the road of course so I won't have to shovel and if need be can easily 4wd right out even if a plow decides to pile up in front of the house. I live at a T and sometimes they don't use the best judgement.

Broke shit. FML.
Drove my 2003XLT up onto 2 foot long 2x12's in dry spot in driveway, so I could crawl under easier. Poor man's lift. Then I idled it for 20 minutes - looking for leaks. None. Unable to locate source of recent coolant leaks. Good I guess? Good exercise & FUN though!!
Did take the time to wrestle this heatshield out. Had to push pull bend jam twist yank .... convince it was time to leave. Looks like galvanic corrosion every where it was bolted down. Aluminum. I like this thing, might have to mount it on the wall down in the Pool Room. A bit creepy lookin.

Holy cow... what in the world did you hit?
I finally decided on a tire and put on a set of Michelin Defenders. Compared to the Uniroyal tiger paws that were on it when I bought it; what a difference. Especially in the side to side flex in a curve. Great ride as well. Definitely a major improvement.

Didn't hit anything, the studs on the spacer snapped and the weight of the Expy punched a hole in the wheel. I now have 5 of the 6 lug nuts and pieces of stud that snapped off...
It kinda scares me to think what may have happened on the highway, on a curve, and they'd broke...
I'm done with wheel spacers.

Were they Chinese wheel spacers? Those are usually made of pot metal; began life as a Datsun grille in Ecuador.

Yes, cheap chinese dogshit. You can say I learned my lesson. I'm just really glad it didn't come loose on the highway. Indeed, my g/f had only just gotten home from town on a grocery run about half an hour before that. I literally made it about 50 feet across the yard when it let go. Holy shit, for real.
I've got a line on some XD wheels, wrapped with nearly new (less than 1K miles) Dick Cepek something-or-others, 285/55/20....thinking awfully hard about going for it. Would really make my rig pop, visually. Could use 'em right now, as there's like a foot and some change of snow drifted in my driveway. Damned tractor won't start. It's already -7, and gonna be probably close to -20 before daylight, and that's not adding in windchill...
I'd say Texas sounds nice, but those poor bastards are getting this crap too.
Who wants to party in Rio? I'm game.

4x4 Low saved the day today, walked me right over a decent snow dam that buried the entrance to one of the complexes. I was first through lol.

Dug it out of a foot of snow. Fortunately I only had about 6 feet to do in front of it where the plow came through, surprisingly early for the amount of snow we got in our area. We are usually one of the last neighborhoods being so close to the county line and far from actual town. Its nice having two long vehicles to full the driveway. A quick path down each side to make it in without tracking snow and that was it.
The people across the street from me are a special breed. They apparently didn't get the memo on no trash pick up (went out over text) so what do they do? Piled it in the road as to not block their driveway. The plows completely buried the cans in a solid 4 feet of snow and ice (they live on a corner lot). Should be interesting to see how that plays out since you can just barely make out the lid in the snow. No way that's getting picked up for at least a week or two w the Temps we will be seeing. Lol.

Installed the Rigid SR-Q Pro replacement set I received yesterday. Kudos to Rigid for honoring their warranty. Unfortunately, many companies these days do not.

This is one of those items I won't go with MC again on. My last 2 MC batteries dropped to < 450 CCA within < 2 years. Good luck with it.

Same. I either run Interstate, or else the batteries from our local hardware store. They have a pretty flippin' good warranty deal..

Never had an issue with a Ford battery, I’ve gotten a few from the dealer. Auto parts stores scare me a lot of old stock, this ones brand spanking new.

I went 850.
With all of the electronics and such, I found it didn't take much to cause a long crank in cold weather with the 650. The 850 gives me plenty of overhead and easier starts in the cold.Similar threads
