Hello first generationers,
I’ve replaced inner and outer tie rod ends, ball joints are good, replaced steering shaft from the firewall to the gear box, holds alignment real well, and I’ve tightened the gearbox nut a quarter turn. I still have about an inch of play in the steering wheel on the highway, and want to know if replacing the gearbox may get rid of it. Some mechanics say yes some say no, looks likes it’s just a couple hundred bucks.
