Dunno. Just towed my son's F350, a 10,000 pound truck, buried axle deep, out of the mud with my '17. I was on dirt. But they're right, it's not really an off-road vehicle. My '06 was better on rough ground but still not really an off-road.
An Expedition EL is not for muding you have to be really careful. Realize an Expedition EL has a empty curb weight of 6,200 pounds......these things sink like a rock.
Yeah. Mine's not an EL but still breathin real hard on 6000 lb. I made sure I was on (solid) dirt. It was the weight that gave me the traction to get him out. Only had to move him the length of his truck. And not in wild country. Was his back yard.
