Need some help from the audio electronics guru's…
I have a 2002 4x4 XLT. I (or rather a buddy of mine) installed a new complete stereo system in my Expi a while back. Currently I have the factory installed flip down overhead monitor with the VHS player in the center console (6 disc CD changer also)… Installed is a crappy Pioneer double din Navigation head unit (planning to switch out), fed by an Alpine PDX-5 Amplifier.
What I'm wondering is, is there a way (hopefully easy) to adapt the oem flip down screen with an aftermarket DVD player? Or is it better/cost effective to buy a complete aftermarket overhead DVD player unit?

It all depends on how the overhead unit gets signal. the "easiest" way would be is if there is an Auxiliary video input on the overhead. I dont know if there is on the factory unit.

If the 2002 VHS player is the same as the 2001 unit there are no aux jacks they are direct wired from the VHS player to the overhead unit.
However it may be possible to obtain a set or RCA cables and cut and splice.
You would need a wiring diagram to be able to do this and if needed let me know.
