This is my first post! To introduce myself, I'm from San Diego, CA. I'm a long time Ford owner, and recently purchased my "new to me" 04 Expedition Eddie Bauer. Great truck!

I have a 04' Eddie Bauer, which seems to have some condensation stains inside the plastic gauge lens.

I was just going to have my alarm installation shop clean the inside of the lens when they do my alarm system, but after speaking with the Ford parts department, they stated the lens and gauge cluster are sold as one part.

Does that mean I cannot remove the gauge lens to clean it??? Has anyone here removed the gauge lens or cluster, can they be separated?

Yep the lens comes off, first you have to take off the surround/dash part in front, two bolts above the steering wheel. The whole thing pulls out and off, also this is how you would get to the stereo. I put my expy in 1st gear, car off, ebrake on, and steering wheel tilted down all the way.

Anyhow, two bolts on the bottom, and pressure clips all around the cluster will let you get the clear part off. Two more bolts at the top will let you remove the cluster as a whole, there are two electrical plugs going into the cluster, either side of the steering wheel, and the transmission selector, both of which are detachable from the cluster.

I just put white faced gauges in my '03 expy today, along with new needles :)

This guy looks cool, so I put him here: :troll:

Thanks for the info! I'm relieved, I really didn't want to buy a whole new cluster.

BTW - I ordered a OEM 2004 DVD repair/service manual for my Expedition. It tells you how to do everything, and covers every bolt, screw, washer in my rig. I can't wait till it comes in so I can start working on my own vehicle.

No prob... I dont have any manuals or anything, I guess I just do things the hard way, on my own!

Heres a pic of the cluster with the dashboard/surround off. (After you take out the two bolts above the steering wheel, they are facing upwards securing the cluster into the dash/surround.

From here you can get the clear plastic panel off, two hex-head bolts at the bottom, and the rest are pressure clips as I said around the cluster.

Where did you get your dvd repair manual? I'm looking for the same for my 2000 EB XLT.
