the two front ones should be near the exhaust manifolds in the downpipes...before the cats. the two rear ones should be imeediately after the cats.

Don't replace the ones behind the cats unless you are specifically getting codes for them. They do nothing for the fuel mixture and thus don't affect mileage, they are only there to monitor the cats "cleaning" of the exhaust.
