Tough to compare a 2010 to a 2018. The new Escalade is on its own level. Plus the L86 6.2 is on a whole new level from the vortec line. I’ve always been a fan of the 6.2 because they are built right by me in buffalo. Im sure GM will be updating and reflashing the 5.3 and 6.2 for 2019 now. By 2000 rpm the L86 is fetching 400 LB FT. I’m fairy sure I’d like my next truck to be a GMC or Tahoe RST with the L86 powertrain id like to do an AFM delete though because i don’t care about MPG. Trust me if you hammer down a Denali or Escalade your burning rubber lol. I’ll also take a look at newer Expeditions naturally because im a ford guy at heart and will never escape that, but the GM platform is very nice and I’m a V8 Guy. Plus they are built in my backyard! Good write up though with lots of information, Rich with it lol, congrats on your truck and post up pics when u can!

Took my wife to test drive a platinum yesterday and she loved it. However, we may end up saving about 16k on a 17 Denali closeout. It's insane what they are discounting on them right now!!!

Honestly if you are buying now Denali is probably the way to go, who knows how these 18’ units will pan out reliability wise. GM has most of the bugs worked out finally on the current platform. They’ll probably be a lot more willing to walk down than ford as well.

For that, you can probably get away with a limited for the same options as a denali for around the same price. You'll miss the billet grill and massage seats but it will have the same features as a denali with better drive characteristics and better implementation of features. Some dealers are doing more 6k off msrp for expys. A 71k 4wd ltd with the special edition pkg was being sold for 65k in nj for ref

The two platinum models I have seen here in KC are both 6k off MSRP. the one we drove yesterday was 74 with a sticker of just over 80.

If you really like the Ford use the GM invenstives to your advantage. I’d Come armed with that info and tell them i wouldn’t mind either truck and talk about how GM is offering you a better deal. Then if they say no id walk out and let them stew, odds are they’ll call you back. At the end of the day they’re going to need to compete with GMs deals because they are the current market leader and already sell 10x the units. The runner up can’t come in and think they won’t have to negotiate FORD IS THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS Something to prove, remember that and use it to your advantage.

Several of the platinums here in the DFW area are listed for $5k-$6k OVER sticker. My only assumption is a lack of availability but it’s pretty wild to see that for a Ford other than a GT350 or Raptor.

Agreed- 2010-2018 is a big gap- its juts my point of reference

I have driven the new generation escalade as well- had as a loaner when my unit was in for service. I love the V8 feel - its definitely has more personality than the 3.5 eco, but I will say the 3.5 in the 2018 still has more torque and at much lower RPMs .

I own a fusion plug in hybrid and I USED to own a 2010 escalade and my company HAD 2014 duramax 2500 pickups, based on my experience I will not own another GM product- all I can say is the build quality on the GM products left me very disappointed. I understand individual vehicles are subject to variation but the GM full sized product line lost a buyer for both the SUVs and pickups with me and my company.
