who here runs a k&n air filter? have you noticed any problems with it? i know some vehicles can't handle the difference in air flow. before i invest in one, i'd like to know of any problems. have you seen substantial performance increase after installing one? i did in my ranger but that's a different vehicle.

K&N's don't usually give a lot of advantage to stock vehicles...but that doesn't stop people from using them, especially for the "buy once" mentality. I have one on our X and my SC'd Thunderbird. No problems...you just gotta check/clean the MAF occasionally. Be careful in doing this!!
What do you mean by some vehicles not being able to handle the difference in airflow???? Please explain!

i have one in my expy, and for a while my MPG suffered. Since more air was entering for a given air: fuel ratio the fuel consumption went up. i dropped from 16mpg to 14mpg. Once the filter got dirty my MPG went back up. i see this same phenomenon every time i clean the filter.

The engine's only going to draw so much air (and fuel) for any given throttle setting. A clean filter won't hurt this. My guess? The clean filter is linked to the foot on the throttle.
