Looking to do an engine swap
I can find a complete 460 for under $500 that runs. It may be worn out and I will do a rebuild on whatever I do decide on (glad I spent 3 years of schooling in automotive engine reuilding and machining)! My main concern is, no one seems to know if any of the small blocks or big blocks will bolt...- wrangler45337

Most of them at 1500 for a complete pan to intake with 140,000 to over 200,000 miles on them. I have found a few decent mileage ones but they want upwards of 2500 for them.- wrangler45337

Looking to do an engine swap
I have a '99 EB with the 5.4. Well it had a 5.4 until it spun 3 rod bearings and 2 main bearings. I have found a few 5.4's in junkyards but everyone wants way too much for one with twice the miles mine had. I am thinking of doing an engine swap using a 302, 351W, or a 460. That is how they should look. I know alot of you guys have very nice, lowered Expy's but nothing beats the lifted look. My '99 EB sits about that high without any lifting.........yet! That will be coming soon. Looks good man!- wrangler45337

what do you think about these tires?
They will fit without rubbing. I have a '99 with 285/75/17 Toyos and don't have any problems. Especially since the M/T's are the same size as factory. I wouldn't be scared to put them on. You will notice that your steering will be more sensitive, and they might sing going down the road, but they...- wrangler45337

low end torque
What size is the cat-back piping? Shorty headers will help with the low end torque. If you open things up to make the engine breath better and flow better you can still gain some low end torque as well as more mid to upper horsepower, but if are after torque, shorties and a good aftermarket...- wrangler45337

Rear springs...Overload, leveling, etc
Your best bet is to buy some good rear shocks or air adjustable shocks. I know there are alot of companies like Fabtech that make a coil spring for them, but then you will be raising it 4-6 inches in the rear only. My '99 EB on 285/75/17 Toyos
Pic of my '99 EB with 285/75/17 Toyo Open Country A/T. No lift, just removed the running boards. And if you look close........you can see a floor jack, jack stand, and the driveshaft unhooked from the rear diff. That s what happens when you lock up your 5.4!!! :shootout:- wrangler45337

I was told when I locked up my 5.4 in my '99 EB that it would be $7,000 here in Ohio from a Dealership. So I told them to shove it. I have been rebuilding it myself since I drive a company truck for work. I am looking at less than $2,000 doing it myself with performance parts from Jegs and Summit.- wrangler45337
