A LONG DRAWN OUT HISTORY...

Ok...I've had my, "Beastly" for 8 years and have handled the normal wear and tear issues. A year ago, my intake manifold popped a hole in it. So...this was the biggest headache ever!! First I tried replacing the manifold and gaskets with the, "New and improved" manifold. Not exactly sure what happened any of the times this repair was attempted, but it was down for 8 months! The new manifold failed. It ran really rough on test run and lost combustion. She got stuck on a busy traffic hill. No power to get her back in my driveway. So 2nd tear down...repairs the old manifold and replaced gaskets. Another fail...3rd time...a supposed, college degreed, certified mechanic said he thought he could tear it apart and put it back together with the same gaskets. I doubted him, but he guaranteed his work and said no charge if it had to be done again to replace the gaskets. The idiot put the gaskets back on backwards, drilled a hole in one gasket cause one of the screw holes wasn't there (to me, that's an indication that something wasn't right with the placement) and torqued it all down to the wrong specs! Thank god my head wasn't damaged!! This guy got a chewing and not another dime! Come to find out he hadn't been a mechanic or even worked on a vehicle for over 20 years. My uncle, who we call NASCAR Tom, had to school him. Now NASCAR Tom did some work under supervision because he has the start of dimensia and clearly can't remember what but went where. In case you're wondering, Tom, back in his good days, built quite a few bad ass muscle cars. Lol So...4th tear down...Another brand new manifold and gaskets. This time my boyfriend did the work. East as pie! She's back on the road after working out a few vacuum quarks. Since she had been sitting for so long, she also got new plugs, battery, ground wiring, New orings for the fuel injectors, all fluids changed, and New connection springs and rubber boots on the coils. She ran like a champ!!!

2 months later, she left me stranded for the first time ever! Ugh!!!! Had her towed home. The next morning I had a hunch and went out to try to start her. She turned right over and engine light came on and the oil indicator light and water indicator light. So I bought an OBD reader. It was the cylinder head temperature sensor. Grrrrr!!!! The damn thing is under the intake manifold! Luckily, I was able to get it out without removing the entire top end of my motor again. $20 for new sensor and good to go once again!

NOW...HERE'S MY CURRENT ISSUE!

Another month and she starts missing and engine light flashes!!! I immediately think it's a coil...I pull code and misfire on cylinder 5. So I cleared the codes and drove it, but she runs fine and light didn't come in for a couple days. I'm thinking...this problem is not a bad coil. It's gotta be something else. One...the engine light doesn't come in right away and she starts out running smoothly and runs smooth under load. Replace two more vacuum lines that I knew were worn, fuel filter and put in some B-12 fuel treatment. Nope...not the problem! Pulled the spark plug. Well...there is water in the spark plug Well. Plug looks fine and gap is correct. Still no idea what the heck is going on!!!

Any ideas and why is there water in my spark plug Well?

Please, HELP!!!!

Unless you hosed down your engine, it would only come from a leaking intake manifold gasket. Almost fell asleep reading your post :). Hey cheer up! Maybe its about time you got a newer expy.:banana-mario:

Yes, maybe it is time she retire, but she's paid for and I get compliments all the time. She's clean. Just need to work out some quarks. I have put her through some hard work lately. Building a house and she can haul a good load of lumber. Quite funny to see the look on people's face when you load an SUV down and then the load leveling kicks and off she goes! Better than the pick-up next to you!

Oh and as far as an upgrade...I have been looking at the newer Expi with the 6 cyl, eco-boost. Any suggestions, recommendations or comments? Or maybe just a work horse truck? I have my audio compeating also. The audio in an SUV really is the best. The sound travel is fricking amazing!
