I stated just above this reply that I have changed the switch motor and the problem continued. Anyhow traded the truck in with the problem still ongoing. I an a f250 owner now. Thanks for all the suggestions.- sinacle1

Just replaced the transfer case switch motor. You have to pull out some pins and use the new plug, everything looked great at the plug when I did that.- sinacle1

Played with it a little this morning and got it to go into 4 hi almost every time. Still won't go into 4 lo at all. Got under the truck and manually played with the front axle disconnect, when disengaged drive shafts spins freely, engaged doesn't. Guessing that works fine. I can hear it when I...- sinacle1

Well its been a while, but I have changed the GEM out behind the fuse box and the selector switch on the dash. Still having the same problems. Any one else have any suggestions aside from cutting a hole in the floor and making a make shift linkage?- sinacle1

Ok, The only relay I found was over the left side of the radio, under the big part of the dash trim that goes from the right side of the radio all the way to the drivers door. Ok after more online searching it looks like what I want to check into is the relays that control the transfer case shift motor, and the GEM behind the fuse pane under the dash. apparently the relays are behind the radio. Does anyone have any experience with these relays? I'm not getting any...- sinacle1

My 97 expedition is only going in 4 hi sometimes, after playing with it for an hour I got it in 4 hi maybe twice and in 4 lo once. Everywhere I look all I see is check vacuum lines, but I can't get the transfer case to switch. When I switch to a4wd I hear a faint click and the a4wd light comes...- sinacle1

Broke bolt for coil pack?
I did the same to mine about 4 years ago. I wound up squishing 2, 1/2" or 3/4" hoses cut to about 1" lengths with zip ties holding them together and zip tied them to my fuel rail over top of my coil to hold it down. OK I just let it set for about ten min. started it up revved up a bit, got a little smoke, nothing like I expected. Took it around the block and romped on it a bit and still nothing.- sinacle1

I just got done sea foaming my engine through the brake booster vacume line and I never saw any smoke from my exhaust, is that good or bad. I have a 97 EB with a 5.4 with about 150,000.- sinacle1

Air ride conversion
My air ride just crapped out on me. So I disconnected everything, pumped up my rear air bags and cranked my torsion bars up.
